YACHT INTERIOR DESIGN GUIDE
Yacht Interior Design Tips.
Saint & Noire was commissioned to create a unique bespoke proposal for a refurbishment of a private family-owned luxury superyacht, the ‘Sunseeker Predator 130,’ based in Côte d’Azur, Monaco. This yacht redefines the lavish boating experience with the latest advancements in design and innovative technology. The captivating concept inspired our team to share expertise on "how to design your dream home at sea," focusing on interior design that enhances and complements the environment of each deck, allowing you to relax in maritime style.
For many of our clients, their yacht serves as a second home and requires a specialized level of thought and detail, unlike that of a house on land. While your second home may be floating, it can still reflect your personal style and the intended purpose of your yacht. Are you seeking escapism, socializing, or travel? The climate where you choose to dock and the water temperature where you sail will also affect the design approach. All these factors will ultimately influence the outcome of your boat design. At Saint & Noire, we aim to help our clients achieve a "shipshape" design and become "rulers of the sea." To assist with this, we have compiled the latest yacht design trends to follow, focusing on the fundamental "Four F's": floor plan, fabrics, furnishings, and finishings of superyacht interior design.
No.1 Floor Plan
Functionality is at the heart of any interior design concept for a yacht. Spaces should be flexible, multitasking, and visually appealing while serving their intended purpose. If the client is looking for a getaway, they may prioritize the addition of a wellness retreat, such as an onboard spa or gym. Conversely, if the focus is on entertaining, a cocktail bar becomes essential to enhance the yacht experience and make the most of the available space.
No.2 Exquisite Fabrics
A warm and neutral color palette featuring pure white, muted tones, and natural hues ranging from brown to beige conveys a sense of serenity, elegance, and balance. In a minimalist space, contrasting textures play a crucial role in adding warmth and softness, helping to create a cozy atmosphere. Soft linen and wool cushions, fluffy rugs, and indoor plants work beautifully to bridge the outdoors with the indoors, promoting sustainability and an eco-luxe aesthetic.
No.3 Furnishings
Utilizing natural light can create an intimate and inviting atmosphere while enhancing contemporary decor. Incorporating modern lighting also helps to delineate different areas of the yacht for various activities such as relaxing, entertaining, cooking, and socializing, thereby creating a seamless flow throughout this ultimate holiday home at sea. Additionally, furnishings are designed with seamless and handleless storage in mind. Push-to-open mechanisms can create a sleek, flush appearance and provide an organized solution for storage needs.
No.4 Finishes
Reimagining furniture with natural materials is essential in yacht interior design. Key focal points include light untreated woods, metal coated in brass, glass, and stone. The contrast between shiny glass surfaces and the rough texture of wood creates a bold and inviting statement. Additionally, marble or quartz finishes are modern classics, especially for luxurious countertops. Sculptural furniture is making a significant comeback, helping to transform our homes and yachts into spaces that feel less formal and more relaxed. Accent pieces can quickly become the highlights of each deck, adding emotion, energy, and depth to the overall design.
