Instantly transform your kitchen walls, floors, cabinets, and tiles with a lick of paint and inspiration from the luxury British paint brand, Farrow & Ball. Their colour palette for “a perfect English kitchen” is inspired by luxurious cosy cottages in the British countryside.

Embrace shades of smokey green and french grey, ivory, navy blue or sage green, to recreate the relaxed country vibe. Farrow & Ball also offer a premium bespoke service with their colour consultancy including custom colours. We are drawn to their paint colour range based on the premium quality of the paint and their palette of nature-inspired colours.

If you are refurbishing your kitchen or planning your dream kitchen design from scratch, the perfect kitchen colour combination is essential to fulfilling the lifestyle you imagine for yourself in your kitchen.

Whilst the popular colour palette for kitchens tends to be “off-white or neutral”, the latest colour trends proving popular, include bold statement-making colours, paired elegantly with white, to enhance a small, large, or open space kitchen and in favour of both traditional and modern kitchen design concepts.

COUNTRY STYLE CABINETRY

The “Shaker Style '' kitchen doors are especially popular, with their English heritage and portray both versatility and functionality. Shaker style kitchens are absolute eternal classics and can be effortlessly stained or painted for a custom appearance. Shaker furniture is often made with natural materials such as pine, maple, and cherry wood.

“Today options are endless, and we can offer our clients a great variety in any shaker style to suit any budget we work closely with our manufacturers offering colour match service as a standard” - Lenka Marsh, Founder of Saint & Noire

At Saint & Noire we recommend the “Inframe Style” - a classic, well-crafted square framed door design. The key feature is that the door of the cabinet is inset within a wooden frame, which is then fixed onto the front face of the kitchen unit. This style is suited to most kitchen styles and made for the long term, showing less unwanted wear and tear.

QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS

Replace existing countertops with Marble stone such as Quartz – these worktops are simply striking but have higher endurance than traditional marble and are one of the most popular choices for kitchen countertops and are worthwhile considering for your kitchen refurbishment budget and plan.

Most Quartz countertops remain cool all year round, which is great for baking purposes and displaying food items. These are also resistant to scratching and cracking and will stand the test of time and are more sustainable and practical than marble.

Quartz countertops will also beautifully bounce natural light around the room and make the kitchen and surrounding furniture appear brighter and the space itself appear larger.

ANTIQUE GLASS SPLASHBACKS

Antique Mirror Splashbacks add a beautiful rustic feel to any kitchen space, but also work synergistically with any kitchen concept. The industrial “Metro” tile is fast disappearing for a higher standard of quality and safety that glass splashbacks can offer - and they are heat, impact, and crack resistant and perfectly custom cut to fit around sockets.

In contrast to traditional kitchen tiling around the cooker, Antique Mirror Splashbacks are also more hygienic than grout and tiles and enhance the natural brightness of the kitchen by reflecting light, which exudes an eye-catching and striking look.

THE HERITAGE COOKER

The cooker is the core of any English country-inspired kitchen - it fundamentally holds the kitchen design concept together. Take inspiration from La Cornue - the global French luxury purveyor of kitchen appliances since 1908. Feel equipped to cook like a “Master Chef” with handcrafted artisan items and fulfil your culinary potential.

La Cornue’s line of exquisite range cookers are simply breathtaking - works of art and created with only excellent craftsmanship in mind. The colours and features can be tailored for bespoke needs and desires - customize with colour, finishes and fulfil your appetite for the cooker of your dreams. The La Cornue cooker ranges also feature exclusive G4 technology, and this heritage brand impressively competes with today’s advanced tech cookers.

BUTLER’S SINK

Butler’s sinks with modern century appeal, teamed up with polished brass taps, flexible-hose and pull-out spray are the most desired style of kitchen sinks at present.

The ceramic design is similar to those found in restaurant kitchens and is stunning in the home kitchen with the practicality of depth even more delightful - less splashing, look of clutter and more space for both dishes and pots that won’t fit in the dishwasher.

The “Belfast” – Butler’s sink is one of our favourites - a deep rectangular shape in glazed white porcelain, with either a single or double bowl facility. This kitchen sink design also works effortlessly integrated into any Quartz or Granite countertop.

LANTERN LIGHTING

The “English country” inspired kitchen would not be complete without superb statement lighting features. We are seeing the rise in demand for indoor ceiling lantern lights to decorate the kitchen.

Lighting is an essential element to complete the kitchen “look” and “feel”. Placed over the countertop the lights can elevate the antique country kitchen trend. Choose brass-finished frames paired with metal chains and glass bodies and finish with eclectic light bulbs.

We recommend using wall lights to complement the pendants and opting for square or pendant frames that will work effortlessly to enhance the kitchen for an ultra-plush and nostalgic space for the whole family to relish and enjoy.
