Award winning Italian home appliance manufacturer, SMEG has mastered the art of fine kitchen accessory, both fashionable to the eye and functional to the touch. Every kitchen turns Instagram worthy with the effortless placement of a SMEG piece, “where technology meets style”. A-listers know all too well the “high status” symbol of a SMEG in their home, including Kim Kardashian and her ‘Momager’, Kris Jenner, who gifted each of their infamous Christmas Eve party guests a SMEG appliance on reality television show, ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’.

SMEG’s designs, palette of colours and materials are aspirational, modern and lifestyle friendly and whilst it comes with a price tag higher than average home appliances, it also comes with power, class and sophistication and is adaptable to each kitchen space. SMEG’s heritage goes as far back as 1948, when it was founded by Vittorio Bertazzoni and abbreviated after the Italian town it originated from; Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla ("Emilian metallurgical enamel works of Guastalla").

SMEG launched its third opulent collaboration in 2019 with the Italian fashion design house, Dolce & Gabbana, the collection titled, “Sicily is My Love”. A true Italian partnership, portraying Italy’s love of cuisine and culture. The collection included irresistible ornate refrigerators, toasters, coffee machines, citrus juicers, kettles, blenders and mixers, featuring images of Sicilian folklore; motifs included lemons, prickly pear, bright red cherries and quirky florals. One of the limited edition pieces from the collection, was a hand painted refrigerator, which retailed in luxury department store Harrods for £36,000, only an exclusive 100 were produced.

SMEG produces both major appliances, such as ovens, washing machines, sinks, taps, which can be integrated into kitchen design as well as beautiful small domestic appliances. The SMEG ‘Fab 50’s’ retro refrigerator range is one of the most sought after pieces for the kitchen and that which made the brand a popular household name.

Style and aesthetic play a leading part in the success of SMEG over the decades, but innovation and function play hand in hand too, from “unbeatable practicality” to “details that make a difference”. Each tool is an art form, whether bringing joy to cooking, making coffee, or to living a healthier, practical or effortless life at home, each “SMEG has soul”.

Founder of Saint & Noire, Interior Designer, Lenka Marsh shares her favourite SMEG piece, “I usually design kitchens with subtle colours and compliment with eccentric kitchen appliances and the “Sicily is my Love” range is perfect, my favourite piece is the “Fridge of Art”. Fashion trends work adjacent to interiors trends and SMEG has opened a whole new world of fabulous prints on their small domestic appliance collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana.”
